Benchmarks are directional, not verdicts. We compare your normalised category rates against a panel of anonymised mid-market peers in manufacturing and distribution — never a single magic number.

Ranges appear as shaded bands on charts, not pinpoints. When your MRO spend sits above the band, we note plant count and asset age as likely drivers before suggesting a sourcing event.

Sample size disclaimers stay visible. A category with three peer observations gets a footnote; we do not imply statistical significance where the panel is thin.

Clients receive the benchmark appendix separately so internal teams can challenge assumptions without exposing peer identities. That separation keeps the executive deck concise.

Used this way, benchmarks shorten the 'is this worth investigating?' conversation rather than replacing supplier negotiations.
